New teeth. New you!

Modern dentistry offers many more attractive and effective options for missing teeth than in the past.

How do you know which is the right option for you?

We break down the benefits of the different types of dentures available with All-on-4® implants.

Are screw-retained or snap-on All-on-4® dental implants better?

What are they? How do they work? How do they compare in cost? What are the benefits or drawbacks?

What are All-on-4® implant-retained dentures?

For years, traditional dentures were the only option available to those with missing teeth.

While providing cosmetic and functional benefits, these dentures also had many drawbacks: chafing, embarrassing slippage, and the need to be continuously re-fitted.

All-on-4® implants are a modern and revolutionary solution for those problems!

How do they work?

Four dental implants are placed into the healthy bone of the jaw and act as secure anchors for your dentures. No more slippage or chafing!

Also, the implants and the new dentures are placed on the same visit! You can walk out of our office wearing your beautiful new smile.

But, what is the difference between snap-on and screw-retained dentures? Is one better than the other?

Snap-on vs. screw-retained dental implants

All-on-4® implants offer options for dentures that fit the differing needs and budgets of our patients.

While both types of prosthetic teeth are firmly attached to dental implants, you can remove snap-on dentures, while screw-retained teeth are only removable by your dentist.

Some other differences affect the performance and cost of each option.

Snap-On teeth features:

  • Held in place by 2 to 4 implants, so it maintains healthy underlying bone, and the denture won’t need re-fitting
  • Can be removed to clean and while you sleep at night
  • Comfortable to wear, teeth are held firmly in place and will not irritate the gums
  • A better option for older patients or those who don’t want to commit to permanent dentures
  • More affordable than a screw-retained denture
  • Requires using more supportive materials for the denture, so you lose some of the aesthetics

Screw-retained teeth features:

  • Permanently attached with small screws to dental implants
  • Made with porcelain, so teeth are durable and very natural-looking
  • Comfortable to wear, teeth are held firmly in place and will not irritate the gums
  • A good option for younger people who have lost their teeth because of an accident or health issues
  • More expensive than snap-on dentures
  • Allows for more cosmetic work

Which option is the best for you must be decided by the results you want and your budget.
